The head of Western Australia's anti-corruption body criticises the police's use of dogs against young people, and says policies governing their deployment were not 'racist in intent, but are racist'.

abc.net.au/news/ccc-condemns-wa-police-use-of-dogs-on-young-and-indigenous/102097636The head of Western Australia's anti-corruption body has criticised the police's use of dogs against young people, and said policies governing their deployment were not "racist in intent, but are racist".

Corruption and Crime Commission chief John McKechnie says many deployments are against young or Indigenous people. The former Supreme Court justice said his main concern was about the broader policies governing the use of canines."Many deployments are against young and or Indigenous persons."Last year's CCC report into the issue did not identify "any evidence of canine handlers culturally targeting Aboriginal persons in the deployment of police dogs".

The report also identified "ambiguity" in how police dogs were meant to be used, but Mr Papalia said he was "not aware" of any issues.

Nothing more, nothing less,” Mr Bolt said. “But here's the crazy thing, that is almost word-for-word the mission statement of the National Indigenous Australians Agency that we already give $2 billion a year to. “Now Albanese should know this, he should know he already has this huge bureaucracy doing exactly what he says is the main job for the Voice that he wants, consulting Aborigines about things that affect them.' Mr Bolt said we should stick with the National Indigenous Australians Agency and 'save ourselves the grief, the danger and the cash of creating a Voice as well'. “After all, this agency says it's already doing what Albanese says he wants for the Voice.'
