EXCLUSIVE: They may have represented Great Britain at wheelchair basketball but Robyn Love and Laurie Williams have lots to celebrate as they reveal their latest achievement
As Laurie Williams and Robyn Love gaze at their newborn, their pride is evident. The couple have achieved more than many in their life so far, but this feels like their biggest accomplishment yet.
Robyn adds, “We both always wanted a family. Going down the IVF route, you don’t know how long it can take. We wanted to get the ball rolling.” DIY enthusiast Robyn wanted to ensure Laurie’s life as a new mum in a wheelchair could be as easy as possible. She installed a sliding door in the bedroom, standing shelves in the kitchen and modified the nursery furniture so that clothes were in easy reach.“Laurie is incredible,” says Robyn. “She had no morning sickness, no cravings. It was a smooth pregnancy.
The couple wanted the baby’s gender to be a surprise and the hospital team let Robyn make the announcement. “Holding her was amazing,” recalls Robyn. “She had nice little chubby cheeks and looked angelic with her big blue eyes.”
