One tin of soup scored an impressive five out of five
With the chillier weather setting in, many of us will be turning to bowls of soup to warm us up on a cold day. Many supermarkets offer their own tins of soups, at an affordable price tag, but how do they stand up against the big name brands?
Some of the Liverpool ECHO team put tins of vegetable soup to the test to see if they could outdo their rivals such as Heinz and Baxters. Each reviewer tried a tin of soup from various supermarkets and asked to score out of five. Although some of the soups fell short of the mark, one bowl managed to score an impressive five out of five. Even better, the tin comes in at an affordable £1.20.I wasn't a massive fan of this soup. There was a good vegetable-to-liquid ratio, but that is my only compliment. It tasted like the sauce baked beans come in, but the beans had been replaced with bits of potato and peas. I won't be buying it again anytime soon.
It didn't have a particularly strong flavour, and was actually quite watery. I liked the amount of vegetables and the addition of the cooked pasta, but I don't think I'd bother with this one again because of its lack of taste.I can't lie, I'm a bit of a soup snob. The idea of eating tinned Vegetable soup wasn't exactly the way I wanted to spend my lunchtime. That being said, this Tesco vegetable soup has a lot more flavour inside than expected.
The sauce itself has a strong taste of tomato, which was quite delicious, and a peppery kick to it, which I also rated. As tinned soups go this one was pretty nice, I'd definitely recommend.
