The Café on the Pier in St Annes is where you can buy yourself a giant éclair for £7.50
When you think of food at the seaside, you might conjure up images of enjoying some fish and chips, an ice-cream or tucking into a huge lump of candy floss.The popular seaside town on the Fylde Coast has been serving up giant eclairs for a number of years and they're well-favoured amongst holidaymakers and locals alike. The home of the eclairs is the Café on the Pier, right on St Annes Pier, where you can also purchase ice-cream, doughnuts and any seaside souvenir that takes your fancy.
I was then informed that they're simply 'giant' and having now seen them for myself, I can see the attraction. For those of you with a sweet tooth who might be visiting the town with a friend or relative with a similar affection for desserts it's hard to resist. The éclair is a classic, with chocolate on top and a thick layer of fresh cream in the middle. Although the structural integrity of it is surprisingly sound, mine did break in half after I had finished posing with it in front of the Pier - so it's advised that you should probably carry it around with you with great care, or better yet, enjoy it straight away.
