The staff members in the chippy were extremely friendly and were speaking to the customers like old friends
By now most people across the county have seen the comedy series Newark, Newark, which focuses on the market town of Newark-on-Trent. A large proportion of the show is set in the show's fish and chip shop named "George's Plaice" which is run by the character Maxine, who works with her friend Claire and son Leslie.
Located just off the main road and opposite the Northgate retail park, you will find Mr Chips. I've never been into the business before but often walk past it on my way into town or to the nearby train station. It was a bit strange stepping inside, as obviously it looks just like how it does on TV, and I was half expecting Morgana Robinson to pop her head over the counter as Maxine.
I had ordered a small portion of chips and a small cod, which cost £7, but the portion was huge, definitely bigger than I expected and 100 per cent good value for the money. The chips were all perfectly covered in just the right amount of salt and vinegar, and the fish was delicious.
