The John Bull is a trademark of Blackburn and a prime example of the great culinary traditions of our county.
Paying a very reasonable £3.20 for the privilege, whilst my Blackburn treat was cooking, we got talking about the chip shop itself. Having previously worked at 'The Village Chippy' on Ballantrae Road, Dougie moved to his new home at The Harbour to set up shop. After a few minutes, my dish is ready and I'm asked if I want salt and vinegar on the top, it's then wrapped up and as soon as it's handed over to me, I can feel the weight of it. For only £3.20 you wouldn't expect much, but this is a heavy item and I'm excited to get it home and open it up.
