The new VR race experience in East Kilbride's Playsport Leisure centre on Stewartfield Way offers you a chance to itch the desire to get behind the wheel of a Formula One racer.
Growing up watching F1 and racing on the TV , we have always wondered what it would be like to get behind the wheel of a supercar or Formula One racer on the track.
The man behind the venture, Ben Lambie, raced against Brit racer Lando Norris and his brother during their karting days, and as part of the training used the VR kit. However, he noticed that their use was limited to training - sparking the idea of bringing the experience to the public - and what an experience it is.
The 12 simulators are arrayed in a U shape with tables behind, allowing friends to watch as you pretend you didn't just send a Porsche into the side of the track after a misjudged corner. But after wrestling the car back onto the track through the steering wheel, which equally gives great feedback indistinguishable from a real car, we were back in the race and our competitiveness could come out - and immediately send us back into the gravel - but at least we got around the corner.
