A status yellow weather warning has been issued for Kerry as heavy rain is set to bucket the country on Sunday and into next week, but there are signs that better conditions are around the corner.
Although the rain might not be as heavy, things are set to continue in that vein up until Easter weekend, with plenty of rain and temperatures dropping to as low as -2 in places at night time next week.Mercifully, there is a small glimmer of hope provided by Met Éireann’s extended range forecast, which is flagging far more tolerable conditions for the first two weeks in April after Easter weekend.
Rain looks set to follow during the following week, 15 to 21 April, with signs that low pressure is expected to dominate during certain periods. Met Éireann’s extended range forecast can be seen in full here, while the forecast for the week ahead can be seen below.Dry in many areas for a time, with some spells of sunshine in the midlands, north and east. However, cloud will be building in from the west, with rain slowly spreading up from the southwest into the rest of Munster, Connacht and parts of south Leinster through the morning and afternoon.
Monday night will be mostly cloudy with further outbreaks of rain, some of it heavy, though the rain is expected to ease overnight. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 6 degrees in a light to moderate easterly breeze.Tuesday will be another mostly cloudy day and while it'll be a little drier overall, there'll still be some outbreaks of rain. Heavier and more persistent rain is likely to push up into southern and southwestern parts in the evening.
