Weather warning issued as Lancashire set to be battered by 65mph winds this week
Lancashire is set to be hit with winds of up to 65mph as the Met Office has issued a weather warning.
The yellow warning, for wind, is active between 7am and 6pm on Wednesday . Blackpool, Fleetwood, Lancaster and Morecambe included the warning - with the rest of Lancashire not covered at the time of reporting. The weather experts say that 'a spell of very windy weather is expected to affect Irish Sea coastal areas on Wednesday." They say that in some places, gusts could reach 65mph.Exposed coastal towns are most at risk of the severe weather conditions, with the Met Office warning that large waves, delays transport and loss of power is possible.
A spokesperson for Met Office said: "A spell of very strong southerly or southwesterly winds will affect some western coastal areas during Wednesday. Gusts of 55-65 mph are expected, especially in exposed coastal locations, with some sudden strong gusts of wind possible at times. "Some further heavy rain is also likely during Wednesday, especially across parts of SW Scotland, Cumbria and W Wales."
