Storm Otto is expected to cause disruption
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind in Nottinghamshire. The forecaster predicts Storm Otto will cause disruption to large swathes of the UK on Friday morning , including the north of Nottinghamshire.
Among the areas expected to be affected are Hucknall, Mansfield and Worksop, with wind speeds forecasted to top 40mph in the latter. Placing the warning from 8.30am to 2pm, Met Office said some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely. It added: "Strong winds through Friday morning associated with Storm Otto may bring disruption to travel in places. Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer.
"Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely. Some short term loss of power and other services is possible." The yellow weather warning also covers Yorkshire, the North East and Scotland. Storm Otto, which was named by the Danish Meteorological Institute, has arrived from across the Atlantic, in what is the first named storm of the season.
