Manchester United’s new signing, Wout Weghorst, has shed light on his thought processes and the events that led to him getting the no.27 shirt.Weghorst has taken the no.27 jersey off Alex TellesHe was initially on loan at Turkish side Besiktas, but Weghorst will now play under Erik ten Hag at United.
The striker’s squad number at Old Trafford has been revealed, with the 30-year-old set to don the no.27.Weghorst has now revealed just how he made such a selection, with United loanee Alex Telles being consulted in the process.“Two and seven will make nine, of course – a striker’s number. I had a feeling with it and of course when I came here I heard it was Alex [Telles]’s number, he got loaned out now.
“So yeah, I first had to ask him if that was okay, so I said to them [United] that was for me important and then in the end there was no problem so thanks to him also.
