Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell blasted his side's performance in their drab draw with Partick Thistle and warned his players they are in for a 'rude awakening' if they think the display was anything other than unacceptable.
He told Premier Sports: "Anybody that thinks that is an acceptable performance is going to get a rude awakening. I thought we were slack all day and didn't play with any energy or aggression. We did fashion some chances and, if you want to be mediocre in your thinking, you could say we got a clean sheet.
"We need to rectify some of our own issues that reared their head throughout that 90 minutes. When we go in six days' time to play Ross County, we will need to be a heck of a lot better than that, otherwise we will be punished and we will be coming out without a single point." The visit of Kilmarnock on the weekend of August 17/18 will pose a much tougher test for Motherwell than the Jags did, with Derek McInness' men riding the wave of competing in European competition.
"They've given themselves a fighting chance in the second leg when they go over to Belgium so I am under no illusions what it will be like every time we play Kilmarnock this season."
