Michael Mosley, known for appearing on ITV's This Morning and his Mail column, popularised the 5:2 diet with his wife Dr Clare Bailey
The BBC presenter, known for presenting Radio 4’s Just One Thing, was last seen on the island of Symi.
Senior Greek police spokesman Constantina Dimoglidou confirmed searches began early this morning but have not yet found anything of note. “He was at the beach of Ag. Nikolas with another couple when he decided to go back to his home in the area of Pedi of Symi. It was around 1.30pm and he forgot his phone at the beach. Any and every attempt to track him down has not produced any result.
But the coast guard is thought to be assisting in the search effort. A community Facebook group on Symi has also issued an appeal for people who may have seen the presenter.
