People will be asked their views on how to restore Wellington Market, Telford and Wrekin Council says.

The entrances to Wellington Market will be improved as part of the plans, the council saidTelford and Wrekin Council said government funding was used for the purchase15 minutes agoThe purchase price for Wellington Market was not revealed by Telford and Wrekin Council but it said funding came from the government.

The site was recently modernised by the authority, which paid for a food court inside and an outdoor pop-up market. People in the town will be asked this winter for their views on how to restore the building, the council said.Previous work to improve the market had already cut the number of empty shop units inside, councillor Lee Carter said.

"This project creates a significant opportunity to enhance the market into a modern, thriving venue at the heart of Wellington," he added. The indoor market, which was established in 1244, is home to more than 50 shopping units and cafes, as well as the new food court.
