A care home has been put into special measures after inspectors found it was so short staffed that members of staff were "exhausted".Two inspectors from the Care Quality Commission made unannounced visits to Highbury House, in Aston Road, Wem, on three dates in July and found permanent staff exhausted and issues with management oversight.
The report notes that one staff member told the inspectors:"I do love my job, but I am exhausted. I never know who I am working with and whether people will be able to get out." Another said:"We are all committed which is why we are still here, and we know it will improve but management need to work with us and listen to what we know works and doesn't work.
CQC inspectors said the inspection was prompted in part due to concerns received about staffing levels and the management of risk in the service.
