West Ham legend Tony Cottee, 54, reveals he suffered a brain haemorrhage and ‘could have dropped dead’
TONY COTTEE has opened up on a medical emergency that almost killed him in the summer.
“I’m in my room the night before not doing anything out of the ordinary, and I got a small pain to begin with in the middle of my forehead, and within five minutes it was the worst headache of my life. “Immediately I was transferred to Charing Cross Hospital, and I can’t speak highly enough of the nurses and doctors; they were unbelievable at both West Middlesex and Charing Cross.
Having endured a near-miss this time round, medics have told Cottee not to worry about it happening again. “They don’t know [what brought it on], we're all busy leading our lives - you work hard, you get stressed out, you're travelling, you're going out with your missus, you're socialising, maybe drinking a little bit. I probably come into all those categories.
