Football Insider has learned that West Ham will demand a huge offer to sell centre-back Nayef Aguerd in the January transfer window.
It is believed the Irons were unwilling to be left without a replacement for the 27-year-old despite moving to sign Stuttgart defender Konstantinos Mavropanos during the summer.and could join the race for his signature in January.
The Reds have long been in the market for a new left-sided centre-back and failed to add one during the main window, instead prioritising a rebuilding of their midfield.that interested clubs will need to pay West Ham a “huge” fee to land Aguerd in 2024 and beyond.The former Rennes star has built a formidable partnership with Kurt Zouma at the heart of the Irons defence.
He has already made three appearances for West Ham this season but missed the 3-1 win over Brighton last month through suspension.The centre-back has racked up 33 outings last season and was instrumental in the club’s successful Europa Conference League campaign.David Moyes’ side have picked up 10 points from a possible 12 to start the 2023-24 campaign.
The London outfit will play Europa League group-stage football this term and have been drawn in Group A with Olympiacos, Freiburg and Backa Topola.
