Ryan McKinnon viciously assaulted Gary McLernon in Whitburn last year.
Ryan McKinnon, 30, brutally turned on Gary McLernon outside the victim’s home in Whitburn in the early hours of last September 21.
The judge told McKinnon: “I have carefully noted the terms of the victim impact statement. They make clear that your actions have had a devastating impact on Gary McLernon’s life.” The thug fled by time police arrived. Officers found the blood-soaked victim unconscious. The court heard he suffered bleeding on the brain as well as multiple fractures to his skull, nose, eye and ribs. Mr McLernon had also lost part of his right ear.
Miss Dalziel said: “If this case had gone to trial, he would have required to give evidence. This is something he would have found physically painful and distressing.”
