Transport Minister Catherine King says Western Sydney International Airport’s terminal is “about to hit top out” after construction began in 2018. The airport has been under construction for the past five years, and will be built to service around 10 million passengers a year from the day it opens in 2026. “At the Western Sydney International Airport most recently – it’s at 50 per cent complete,” Ms King said during Question Time on Wednesday. “I’ve stood on the new airstrip; that’s been terrific to see that, and most recently, I was at the rail project where Peggy, the tunnel borer, she came through. “We’re seeing that project well and truly proceed.”
