African miner delivered mixed results for the September period

With "unprecedented" wet weather and lower than expected grades at its Mako mine during the September quarter, Africa-focused gold producer Resolute Mining is expecting to only just achieve its 2024 production guidance. The Terry Holohan-led Resolute produced roughly 85,000oz of gold at all-in sustaining costs of US$1452/oz in the quarter from its two active mining areas – Mako in Senegal and Syama in Mali – despite the extreme weather.

" Resolute's numbers were only marginally softer than the June quarter, during which it produced 90,787oz at $1402/oz. Its full-year guidance is currently put at 345,000-365,000oz at $1300-1400/oz. Costs are expected to land in the upper end of this range. With 95,242oz of gold sold at an average $2493/oz during the quarter, Resolute generated $50 million in free cash flow and grew its cash position to $145.6 million from $96.6 million at the end of June.
