A large fall storm is whipping up winds and surf over Western Alaska on Thursday night, after lifting north from the Aleutian chain. Winds hit a gust of 47 mph in Bethel, and over 50 mph in the Aleutians.

Weather alerts from the western coasts and Interior Alaska include flood watches. high surf, and high wind advisories. A high wind warning is in place for the Alaska Range, where potential wind gusts could hit 65 to 70 mph. Southcentral Alaska will see winds pick up to 25 mph tonight, ramping up to 40-50 mph overnight and Friday morning. Rain showers will move through the region and then be on the way out, so a nice break is in store for Friday afternoon and evening.
