The pub chain plans to use the upper floors of The Crystal Palace in Jamaica Street for hotel rooms, as well as building onto a neighbouring gap site.

Wetherspoons has unveiled plans to create a hotel development above one of its venues in Glasgow 's city centre.

It has submitted a proposal of application notice to Glasgow City Council with a public consultation set to take place before a planning application can be officially lodged. That proposal was later withdrawn.An architectural first in the city, the Crystal Palace situated on 36 Jamaica Street was once known as Gardner's Warehouse.
