Jordan Pickford saved Anthony Gordon's penalty to help Everton to a hard earned point against Newcastle
Jordan Pickford has explained his exchange with Anthony Gordon at full-time of Everton's 0-0 draw with Newcastle at Goodison Park on Saturday evening. The Toffees goalkeeper was the hero after saving his former team-mate's penalty kick midway through the first half to secure a point. Gordon's miss was met by wild celebrations at Goodison as the former Everton academy graduate failed to capitalise on James Tarkowski's moment of madness when he dragged Sandro Tonali to the ground.
'To be fair, I watched the game last week and he reversed it against Ederson and I fancied him going keeper's left. It hit my knee and straight off my beak . I think he will be disappointed but I am there to make the save and that's what I did. 'It's like trying to double bluff each other and I have got the better of him tonight, It was a big moment and I am pleased it helped us get the draw.
