After touring many Krogers throughout Louisville, the Kentucky Derby 150 trophy is here at Churchill Downs.
Aristides won the first edition by two lengths in 1875 when the race was run at 1 1/2 miles. Twice it was rescheduled in the same year, the first due to World War II in 1945 and the second because of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.Brokers Tip, ridden by Don Meade, came up the rail to challenge leader Head Play and jockey Herb Fisher. They ran side-by-side down the stretch, with Meade and Fisher grabbing arms and whipping each other in what became known as the"fighting finish.
