The healthy yogurty drink seems to be everywhere – but how good for you actually is it? And can it really have an effect on ADHD in kids?

All of a sudden, kefir seems to be everywhere. The superfood is raved about by health influencers while billboards have popped up all over for branded kefir drinks.But what actually is kefir? And could it really help with ADHD?

How does kefir affect ADHD? Speaking on Alex’ Partridge’s ADHD Chatter Podcast, a neuroscientist, Dr Miguel Toribio-Mateas, suggested that kefir could have an effect on children who have ADHD. Speaking on the podcast, Dr Miguel Toribio-Mateas said: ‘We noticed improvements in impulsivity, improvements in hyperactivity, and also better sleep.’

She told Netmums: ‘One single study on a small and limited sample of people isn’t enough to prove a cause and effect of one single food.’
