Burnip earned second-team All-SEC honors from the league’s coaches last season. He averaged 47.6 yards per punt, second in the conference and fifth nationally. Burnip wasn’t the only Alabama special-teamer to earn praise from DeBoer after the Crimson Tide’s second preseason camp scrimmage on Saturday.
The Crimson Tide kickers reportedly struggled a bit in the first scrimmage at Bryant-Denny Stadium last week. That room included reigning Lou Groza Award winner Graham Nicholson, who transferred in from Miami of Ohio, along with returnee Conor Talty.“On the practice field it’s been super consistent,” DeBoer said.
