Butler wrote on X, the site formerly known as Twitter, Monday that she was “honored to accept” the governor’s nomination. “No one will ever measure up to the legacy of Sen. Butler grew up in Magnolia, Miss. in a working-class family. Her father died when she was 16 after being diagnosed with a terminal illness. Her mother worked multiple jobs to support the family.
