The young man went on to study at St Andrew’s University before becoming active at Westminster in recent years. Describing the messages they exchanged, Ms Hoffman wrote: “We bonded over our favourite glitzy Westminster drink receptions and even dating disaster stories, which now seems ironic.“He spoke passionately about how he lived in the country but was now banned from returning.”
One of the suspects, a man in his 30s, was detained in Oxfordshire on 13 March, while the other, in his 20s, was arrested in Edinburgh, Scotland Yard said. Searches were also carried out at an east London property.
