Here’s what the jet-setting president will be doing in Indonesia and what issues he intends to bring up
MANILA, Philippines – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will be joining leaders from Southeast Asia in early September 2023 for the 43rd Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The 43rd summit, in contrast to the 42nd, will be much bigger – representatives ASEAN dialogue partners will be arriving in Jakarta for summits throughout the week.ASEAN Summits always require the participation of at least three Cabinet officials – the Foreign Affairs Secretary, the Social Welfare Secretary, and a country’s Trade Chief.
The Indo-Pacific has become a flashpoint for geopolitical tensions, including the growing competition between China and the United States.
