Workers say the Irish airline does not respect local labour laws covering issues such as the minimum wage and urge Ryanair's bosses to improve working conditions
states that workers receive a base salary of €8,715 per year and are then paid extra for flight hours – but they are not guaranteed a minimum amount of flight hours per year.
A Ryanair spokesperson said the airline “fully complies with Spanish law, including all minimum salary provisions”. Ryanair walked away from the negotiating table earlier this month, saying the unions’ demands were “unreasonable”.Ryanair told Reuters last week it had negotiated labour agreements covering 90 per cent of its staff across Europe and that it did not expect widespread disruption this summer.
It insists it is “delivering improvements for Spanish-based cabin crew and reinforcing Ryanair’s commitment to [their] welfare”.
