Winter Fuel Payments are worth between £100 and £300 depending on circumstances
Winter Fuel Payments have ignited a debate after Chancellor Rachel Reeves revealed a tightening of eligibility criteria, leaving hundreds of thousands of Brits out of the seasonal £200 or £300 payments. So, what changes can those who are still eligible anticipate?
This letter details the amount due and identifies the bank account into which it will be paid, usually the same account where Pension Credit or other benefit payments are received. If you're unable to open or manage the designated account, you can choose to receive the payment through the Payment Exception Service.
On the other hand, if you don't receive a letter or if your payment hasn't arrived by January 29, 2025, you can contact the Winter Fuel Payment Centre. You'll also need to get in touch with the centre if you want to return a payment or cancel future payments.
