Manchester City won the Champions League for the first time in their history on June 10, 2023 against Inter Milan in IstanbulManchester City are celebrating three years since they won the Champions League today.

On June 10, 2023, the Blues beat Inter Milan 1-0 in Istanbul to lift the famous silverware for the first time in their history. Future Ballon d'Or winnerHis low strike from the edge of the box left future Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana stranded.

That win meant they became only the second English club to win the Treble of the Premier League,"Especially this season, the entire world has said if we don’t win the Champions League we will not be complete, it will not be enough," he said.

"Winning these five Premier Leagues and arriving in three semi-finals, and two finals, is exceptional, but everyone says: ‘No, you have to win’. "But winning the Champions League every season is difficult unless you are Real Madrid. The other ones sometimes arrive and do it. Not just for me, for the club, for our CEO and players — we had everything but not the Champions League, as if the Premier League is nothing.

"So I like this competition for the fact we won it, to be part of history. The players know they will be remembered for the rest of their lives. But now give credit for the five Premier Leagues we won in six years.

"It is important because people now forget about it and focus on creating a museum to put all our trophies in, because what we have done in the last years is unbelievable, not just the Champions League, but many titles. " On the anniversary of the win,City's legendary goalkeeper stayed at the club until last summer when he was sold to Fenerbahce.

He recently returned to the Etihad Stadium to bid a proper farewell to the fans on the final day of the season. The centre-back also left City last summer to join Inter Milan on loan.

However, that deal will be made permanent during this transfer window. Ake is also still contracted to City and made 32 appearances for the Blues despite being a fringe player in the squad. The long-serving City defender left the club at the end of his contract this summer. He is currently representing England at the World Cup and has not signed for a new team.

City's match winner Rodri is still contracted to the Blues. As mentioned, he went on to win the Ballon d'Or in 2024 but suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear that same year. He made 33 appearances this season in an injury hit campaign Like Stones, Bernardo left City this summer as a club legend. Both he and Stones were given an emotional farewell at the Etihad Stadium on the final day of the campaign.

Bernardo is also at the World Cup and has not signed for a new club yet. De Bruyne bid an emotional farewell to City last year after a stellar career with the Blues. He signed for Napoli in 2025 and made 21 appearances due to injury. Gundogan initially left City after the Champions League win to join Barcelona but spent just one season in Catalonia before returning.

Last summer, he left the Etihad Stadium again to join Galatasaray and recently returned to Manchester for a proper farewell. Grealish is still contracted to City but spent last season on loan at Everton. He will return to the Etihad Stadium this summer but is expected to leave permanently in this window. Haaland remains City's talisman and is contracted to the club until 2034.

Last season, he scored 38 goals and picked up the Premier League's Golden Boot award once again. After becoming third choice at City, Ortega left the club earlier this year to join Nottingham Forest. His short-term contract ended this summer and he has now become a free agent. Carson became an unlikely cult hero at City despite making just two appearances for the club.

He left the Blues in 2025 and subsequently retired. Walker left City on loan in January 2025 on the hunt for more games. He joined AC Milan on loan before signing for Burnley permanently that summer. The midfielder suffered a torrid time at City and after failed loan spells at West Ham and Ipswich, he joined EFL club Sheffield United on loan for the second half of last season.

Laporte left City the summer after the Champions League triumph to join Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League. He spent two seasons there before returning to Athletic Bilbao in 2025. After failing to unseat Haaland as the starting striker for City, Alvarez joined Atletico Madrid in 2024. His time in Spain has been a success and this week he was the subject of a £130m bid from Real Madrid.

The boyhood City fan found minutes hard to come by in Manchester and he would leave City after two seasons in 2024, joining La Liga club Real Sociedad. He left City as a fan favourite after the Champions League triumph to join Al Ahli in the Saudi Pro League. Things did not work out for the midfielder at City.

Perrone went on loan to Italian club Como in 2024 and joined them permanently last year after just two appearances for the Blues. City's academy star and boyhood supporter remains at the club. Despite a couple of difficult seasons, the Blues are hopeful of tying Foden down to a new contract. Despite coming through the City ranks, Palmer left the Blues for Chelsea the summer after the Champions League.

He has since established himself as a Premier League regular at Stamford Bridge. Lewis remains contracted to City but is on the fringes of the squad. He is expected to be considering his options this summer.
