A spectacular parade, colourful costumes and music
One of Nottingham's most colourful and joyous events is taking place this weekend. Nottingham Carnival is a spectacular multi-cultural celebration with dazzling costumes, music and food and drink.
Troupes from Nottingham and around the country will take part in the parade on Sunday, August 20, which kicks off at 2pm and is free to watch. Zodiac Allstars, Inspire Urself and Impactd will be joined by troupes from London, Leeds, Leicester and Newcastle. The parade will take around two hours, starting at Victoria Embankment, before heading up Wilford Grove, Felton Road and Green Street. It will make its way back to the Embankment via Bunbury Street, returning to the carnival site via Wilford Grove.Performances will take place on a dedicated stage within the carnival ground. There will be four music zones featuring live bands, 30+ DJs and sound systems and steel bands.
There will also be trade stalls, world food stalls, licensed bars, and a kids zone with activities for little ones. The site will be open from noon to 8pm. Admission is £5.50 when you book in advance from visit-nottinghamshire.gigantic.com or £6 on the day. Children aged 12 and under go free but must be accompanied by an adult.
