The 21-year-old managed to break free from the south-west London jail on Wednesday morning
We take a look at where the prison is located, who it houses and how Khalife managed to escape.
Constructed in 1851, it is one of the largest prisons in the UK and can house up to 1,600 prisoners across five wings – A,B,C,D and E – which radiate from a central building. The prison is situated in a mainly residential area of south-west London, close to Wandsworth Common Local prisons house prisoners who are taken directly from court in the local area while training prisons hold long-term and high-security prisoners.According to the Howard League for Penal Reform, it has 171 per cent overcrowding with between 60 to 80 per cent more people than it is designed to hold.
Former energy secretary MP Chris Huhne became an inmate at the prison in 2013 after he was sentenced for perverting the course of justice in relation to swapping fixed penalty points with his then wife Vicky Pryce. Disgraced ex-publicist Max Clifford was also housed there after his 2014 conviction for indecent assault.
