These include Australia, Canada and New Zealand, as well as several island nations in the Caribbean and Indian Ocean. Several countries dropped the Queen from the role in the years after they gained independence, usually replacing her with a prime minister.It's not the first Caribbean country to do this.Guyana did the same in 1970, Trinidad and Tobago followed suit in 1976, and Dominica in 1978.The last to do was Mauritius nearly three decades ago in 1992.
