Speaking to Sky News Investigative Reporter Denham Hitchcock, Ms Yann's daughter Ronda Chagoury was in tears as she described what it felt like to know there was a fresh incentive to find answers."I feel this is our chance for everyone to tell their story and not be shouted down, to be able to tell our story, we've been given a second chance. We are so lucky."
She lived in the home, located roughly 60 kilometres north-east of Melbourne's CBD, for about six years. "No forced entry to the premises at all, an immaculately kept inside of the house, typical of a very house proud woman. The Homicide Squad have conducted a significant investigation into the mother-of-three's murder for the past two decades, with detectives reviewing the case in 2021.Police hope the new $1 million reward from the Victorian government will provide new leads and"result in those responsible being held to account".
They claimed Mr Unumadu had also contacted a"witch doctor" as he was upset about Ms Yann's role in the breakdown of his relationship with her daughter. "To have that judgement acquitted... we collapsed. We all cried. We all just huddled together and whimpered," Ms Yann's son Jeff Yann told Sky News Australia.Asked if he could confirm if Mr Unumadu was still the number one suspect, Superintendent Day said"it would not be appropriate for me to talk about that".
