Skinny, real name Mohammed Awais Sajid, features in The Detectives: Taking Down an OCG on BBC2 on Monday night

Hit BBC crime documentary The Detectives returns to our screens this week, with cameras following Greater Manchester Police’s dedicated organised crime unit in Rochdale.

Following a ‘minor’ road rage incident, tree surgeon Cameron Brooksbank attempted to calm the situation. The then-18-year-old was struck by an axe in the armpit, and then on the wrist as he tried to shield his head from another blow.READ MORE: G et today's top stories here. Episode two of the series then sees Cameron have his day in court, but the jury were unable to come to a verdict in his case. A retrial features in episode three.

The attack was carried out by a gangster nicknamed Skinny, real name Mohammed Awais Sajid. Eventually, after a legal battle which ended in October 2019 — two years after the attack — he was convicted of the crime.
