First it was Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, then johnlegend and chrissyteigen. Now, SJP has joined the bandwagon.
Her fondness for a cosmo is one of her most famous character’s most famous qualities, but Sarah Jessica Parker is a savvy b girl in real life, it turns out. The actor – not content with juggling her eponymous shoe range, a publishing imprint, and serving as exec producer as well as star of just-concluded HBO show– has set her sights on the world of wine. SJP recently posted a snap of the first bottle of her New Zealand sauvignon blanc on Instagram, and told her 5.
But the trend is by no means limited to SATC alumnus. Other notable proponents of the celebrity-backed booze brand include filmmaker Gia Coppola, who has collaborated with her grandfather's Francis Ford Coppola Winery on a red , a white and a rosé all "made for the hashtag generation". The musician John Legend plugs his LVE wine with a little help from wife Chrissy Teigen, who posed draped over the front of their yacht with a bottle as they cruised the Med last month.
Savvy stars are partnering with brands to combine their own profiles and preferences with the winemaking nous of industry professionals. Hence SJP's collaboration with Invivo & Co, the same New Zealand producer behind the TV presenter Graham Norton's range of wines, which recently expanded to include a prosecco. "Someone else who has a very highly-rated wine is Jon Bon Jovi," says Seal.
Others go further still by actually buying vineyards. "Anybody who goes so far as to take on an actual vineyard – unless they're totally nuts – will take on a winemaker," says Seal. "When Brad and Angelina bought Miraval, it was a going concern.
