A PICTURE OF DESTRUCTION: Will there ever come a time when African nations will have a nuclear bomb at their disposal?
More specifically, why doesn’t any African country have a nuclear program despite many countries having the natural resources available to theoretically produce nuclear weapons? Many black and indigenous communities have been victims of nuclear weapons testing by Western countries that held territories as colonies.
Most African countries have been victims of foreign invasions and there is no reason why resource rich countries such as Nigeria, Angola or the DRC won’t be considered for future invasion by a foreign power under the right circumstances – but they have no deterrent as Western powers do. Another concern is security in Africa and how nuclear weapons may be more of a liability than an advantage for many African countries. Some analysts have warned that the risk of terrorists obtaining nuclear weapons would increase in a nuclear heavy African continent.
