Summary Ed, Edd n Eddy creator Danny Antonucci has explained why a revival of the series wouldn't do well, no matter how the show ended up being revitalized. Considered one of the best shows on Cartoon Network, the animated comedy ended with season 6 in 2009, with no concrete plans to continue the series or revive it afterwards.
Oh, sure. Do an AI version. For me, I’ve done what I was going to do. I mean, if the network wants to do it, all the best to them: It will fail miserably. They could have done a lot of things like spinoffs with some of the characters. I’ve been told you can do it for Adult Swim, and they’re all grown up, but then you are just repeating an idea. It was what it was and to go back and revisit would not be the same.
While it's possible an Ed, Edd n Eddy reboot could happen in the future, Antonucci's statement indicates it wouldn't include his involvement. The creator had a huge role to play in making the series a success, having creative control throughout its run. Without his input, the show would risk repeating similar stories as the original with some altered scenarios, none of which would live up to its source material.
