It’s hard not to be excited or dream that, with the arrival of Mike Macdonald, we will have a dominant defense after a long time. The work that the new Seattle Seahawks head coach did with the Baltimore Ravens gives us that hope. On the defensive line we saw a fantastic season from Justin Madubuike and even the resurgence of Jadeveon Clowney. Drawing a potential parallel, the Seahawks kept Leonard Williams and brought in Byron Murphy II in the first round.

The Cincinnati Bengals attacked Witherspoon’s zone with two receivers. Notice how before selecting Ja’Marr Chase he sees Tyler Boyd’s movement, makes the right decision and prevents the first down conversion. This is my favorite play Spoon made in his entire rookie year. He is tasked with defending the hook zone since Bobby Wagner is blitzing. He reads Brock Purdy’s eyes fantastically, cutting off the passing lane.
