A youthful side were defeated 3-0 by Premier League newcomers Burnley at Carrington on Wednesday afternoon. Click here.As such, those currently on the periphery - including Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial - have not been able to sharpen up their match fitness. Behind-closed-doors friendly outings against Burnley and Everton have now handed them that opportunity.
In the Burnley game on Wednesday afternoon, a youthful United group were beaten 3-0 with Martial, McTominay and Donny van de Beek among those to feature. Eight of the 15 players used had never appeared for the first-team, while Burnley fielded two separate XIs.
