It's not just original fans rushing for tickets to the band's long-awaited reunion tour. Young people are desperate to see them live, too. But why? When news broke of the Oasis reunion this week, there was immediate social-media hysteria.
“But me, I had a good time making that album. I think there are some great songs on it. I think I sung really well, and it was a good time to be alive. Some of the songs went on a bit long, and they were a bit overproduced, but that’s what happens.”after an altercation backstage at Rock en Seine festival in Paris, the band split.
Ben Stocks, 25, from Sheffield, is another superfan. He’d heard of Oasis growing up but didn’t properly listen until his work mentor Andy started playing the songs to him. Andy, 15 years his senior, was a guitarist in a band himself and the work crew used to watch him play at the local pub. The more time they spent together, the more Stocks loved Oasis.
He bought a special edition with a picture of Liam’s face on, which he’s still never played. “I don’t know what it’s worth but it’s something nice to have. It’s a good memory.” Jennifer Noble, 20, from Leeds, is also hoping to get tickets. “My mum used to play old music non-stop – I heard that more than anything else,” she says. “All my favourite films are from that time too, I was obsessed with 90s films. I thought they were really cool and loved the soundtracks.”By the time she started secondary school she and her group of friends would listen to Oasis daily and, years later, the lyrics still speak to her. Her favourite lines are from the 1995 song “Cast No Shadow”.
