Donna-Marie Wright says teaching kids about child abuse could keep them safe
A woman who was molested by her step-dad from the age of six is urging people to educate their children on sexual abuse.
Now 41, the mum-of-seven said it was only when she started having kids that she realised the importance of opening up about her ordeal. Donna, who waived her right to anonymity to speak out, believes she might have had the courage to seek help sooner had she been educated about abuse.She said: ‘When he started to abuse me there was lots of confusion. I thought, was this normal, was this what dad’s did?
The NSPCC say parents can teach their kids these rules using child-friendly resources available on their website.
