Marcus Rashford travelled to London but is not in the Man United squad for the game against Fulham.
Rashford sustained a heavy knock in United's final training session on Friday and was unable to finish it. The 26-year-old travelled with the squad to London but failed a fitness test on Saturday morning. United manager Erik ten Hag selected a 22-man squad for the journey, which indicated there was a fitness issue.
Rashford's absence comes a day after Ten Hag branded his decision to attend a birthday party on Sunday evening as "unacceptable". United lost 3-0 at home to Manchester City hours earlier and Rashford's removal was cheered by a section of the crowd at Old Trafford.Read more: United are morphing into their Moyes tweet
Ten Hag upbraided Rashford and suggested he had meted out an unspecified punishment. "Yes, I am aware of it, I spoke with him about it. It's unacceptable. I told him. He apologised and that's it. For the rest, it's an internal matter."Rashford was named as a substitute for the League Cup elimination by Newcastle United on Wednesday but Ten Hag clarified his bench role was rotational and not punishment.
The timing of Rashford's outing was particularly ill-advised amid his dismal form of one goal in 14 United games this season.
