It refers to Nancy Pelosi, the Senate’s House Speaker, who ripped up President Donald Trump’s speech after the State of the Union address on 5 February. The action was captured on live TV for all to see. Speaking to reporters afterwards, Pelosi said the act was,Pelosi’s gesture has since gone viral. She’s made no secret of her opinion of Trump in the past.
Her outfit appeared to express her mindset yesterday, too. She wore a white power suit – a symbol of women’s suffrage. Note: she previously wore similar tailoring to the State of Union address in 2019. Pelosi also wore a well-positioned brooch. The piece of gold jewellery represents the Mace of the Republic, which symbolises the legislative authority of the House of Representatives.
