Man Utd have been heavily linked with Michael Olise of Crystal Palace, who has been called up by Thierry Henry for the Olympic Games.
Michael Olise was Manchester United's tormentor in-chief a month ago, running riot at Selhurst Park as Crystal Palace inflicted a bruising 4-0 defeat on Erik ten Hag's side.
It is somewhat ironic that a former United tormentor, Thierry Henry – who played in a similar style to Olise – has thrown a potential spanner in the works. Around the same time that Olise signed an extension at Palace, the former Arsenal striker was appointed as the new manager of France's Under-21 side, with it agreed that Henry would also lead a French Under-23s team at this summer's Olympic Games in Paris.
The men's Olympic football final is not until August 9, so if France go all the way, Olise would likely miss the start of the Premier League season and play no part in pre-season whatsoever. “We have to give the players a rest whenever it is, whether he’s nominated for the Euros, whether he plays, whether he’s nominated for the Olympics and if he wants to go there; we have to give them some rest whenever it is."
