The Duke and Duchess of Sussex discussed their first date in London and how it was refreshing to know nothing about one another during their engagement interview.
October 14, 2022 - 14:58 BST Nichola Murphy Meghan Markle and Prince Harry opened up about the very beginning of their relationship and why they were glad they knew nothing about each other.Their love story began in London where they met for a drink at Soho House's Dean Street Townhouse London in summer 2016 after being set up on a blind date by a mutual friend.
"Because I'm from the states you don't grow up with the same understanding of the royal family. So while I now understand very clearly there is a global interest there, I didn't know much about him and so the only thing that I had asked her when she said she wanted to set us up was: 'Is he nice?' If he wasn't kind it just didn't seem like it would make sense.
When asked if Harry had seen the former Suits actress on TV before their first meeting, he replied:"No, I'd never even heard about her. "Everything I knew about him and his family was what he would share with me and vice versa, so for both of us, it was just a really authentic and organic way to get to know each other."With people"thinking they know" a lot about Harry, he reiterated it was"hugely refreshing to be able to get to know someone who isn't necessarily within your circle".
