Concerned Craig Moore reckons that Rangers fans will also be "nervous" after the decision to appoint John Beaton as the referee for the blockbuster clash with Celtic.
The SFA decided to name Beaton as the man in the middle for the top of the table clash just days after Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers was slapped with a ban by the Hampden beaks for branding him 'incompetent' following the defeat to Hearts. The Celtic boss called out referee Don Robertson and VAR official Beaton following the clash at Tynecastle after the decision to send off Yang and award a penalty against Tomoki Iwata for handball.
Rodgers was hit with a one-game ban with one suspended for a breach of SFA Disciplinary Rule 72 but has since declared he has no regrets over the comments. Some Celtic punters have expressed concerns over the decision to name Beaton as the whistler for the game following the public row. But former Light Blues captain Moore reckons that the blue half of Glasgow will also be concerned going into derby day. He told Go Radio: "I can understand why both sets of fans would be nervous about this appointment.
"Obviously the controversy surrounding the Hearts match, but when you look at the other side of the fence I have heard a lot of Rangers supporters saying because there is an extra, added pressure on John Beaton does he referee the game a different way. For me personally, I just think talking about the referees - the fans are allowed to do it but in camp both Rangers and Celtic will be on themselves. This will not be a distraction, but I can understand why it's a talking point.
