Police and National Highways officers attended the scene between Darwen and Blackburn
Emergency services, including Lancashire Police and officers from National Highways, were called to the scene shortly before 1.30am on Tuesday . The eastbound carriageway was closed between J4 for Darwen and J5 for Blackburn due to a 'single vehicle collision'.
At 4.43am, National Highways said all repairs were complete and the lane closures had been removed. The motorway is now fully reopen and there are no delays in the area. "We anticipate that the lanes will be closed for some time, whilst we make sure the road is safe. In the meantime, we’d recommend looking for an alternative route and driving carefully, leaving plenty of extra time to get to your destination.
